‘Share Something that you’ve Learned during COVID19’

The Ballymun Community and Social Development Team are excited to launch our creative learning initiative for Dublin learning City Festival March 22nd to 24th.

We are inviting community members of all ages to ‘Share Something that you’ve Learned during Covid 19’.

Submit a poster, short story, photograph, poem or anything else that creatively expresses something that you have learned over the last year since Covid 19 has come into your life. For example, you might have actually learned a new sport, a new dance, taken up a new hobby or instrument……or you may simply have learned how important it is to look after your health, to keep connected to your family and friends, to worry less about the small things in life or how much you actually love and miss school!!!

All entries should be submitted by Friday the 19th March to be in with a chance to win a prize.

Entries can be e-mailed to [email protected]or posted to Yvonne Kirwan, Dublin City Council, Community and Social Development Section, 2nd Floor, Ballymun Civic Offices, Main Street, Ballymun, Dublin 9.

Winning entries will be announced and displayed on Facebook during Dublin City Learning Week 22nd to 24th March.

Learning Neighbourhoods: Bringing Lifelong Learning Closer to Home

Dublin Learning City’s Learning Neighbourhoods programme is about one simple idea: everyone should be able to find learning, training and educational opportunities right on their own doorstep. Since the programme began, we’ve worked with local communities across the city to map out what’s already there, connect residents to it, and build networks that make lifelong learning part of everyday neighbourhood life.

So far, two areas of Dublin have been officially recognised as UNESCO Learning Neighbourhoods — with a third now underway.

Investing in human capital is crucial to Dublin’s successful development, and lifelong learning is key to this endeavour. As a learning city, it pursues the principle of ‘learning for work, life and fun’ through wide-ranging initiatives coordinated by six local colleges and institutes together with further partners. The ‘Your Place is Here’ campaign encouraging enrolment in higher education regardless of educational background, age, or individual circumstances, and the Healthy Dublin City project offering six learning programmes to improve citizens’ personal, physical and mental health are just two of the many initiatives available to Dublin’s population of more than 1.2 million.
