Dublin Learning City Festival 2026

The Dublin Learning City Festival returned from Wednesday, 22nd to 25th of April 2026, and what a celebration of learning it was!

This year’s theme, To Belong, brought residents together to meet new people, explore fresh ideas, and discover new ways to learn across Dublin. Over four days, the festival created space for connection and curiosity across the city.

Applications are now open to host Dublin Learning City Festival 2024 events

Organisations who want to share their passion for learning through fun and creative events are invited to apply

 

Dublin Learning City is inviting individuals, organisations and companies from all over Dublin to host events at Dublin City Learning Festival 2024. The Festival which takes place from Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th of April, celebrates and promotes learning for all, through a series of engaging events.  It’s free, it’s fun and it’s for everyone!

The Festival is open to the public, with the purpose of creating awareness about the wide range of learning opportunities available in Dublin along with celebrating the fun, creative and free art of learning.

Dublin City Learning now welcomes learning events of all kinds and formats including seminars, podcasts, talks, workshops, demonstrations, tours, training sessions, open days, exhibitions, performances and more.

If you are interested in hosting an event or already have an event planned during the festival dates, we would like to include your event in our listings. If your event is free, focuses on learning and is open to all, you can apply by completing the form on www.dublinlearningcity.ie. The deadline for submission of event proposals is Thursday, 4th April 2024.

Denise McMorrow, Co-Chair of Dublin Learning City stated, “Learning is not linear; it is a process that can be engaging, fun, creative and most of all, accessible. This year we are aiming to include events that are experimental and diverse which will showcase the abundant resources available here in Dublin city, as well as the return of the favourite workshops and classes that have gotten very popular over the years.”

Sean Delaney, Co-Chair of Dublin Learning City, said, “This year we hope that the Dublin Learning City Festival will help people from all walks of life re-discover the joy of learning through fun and creativity. We want to break the notion many people still have that learning is dull or uninteresting. Dublin City is filled with organisations that go beyond conventional methods of learning and we are looking forward to showcasing them at the Festival.”

Learning Neighbourhoods: Bringing Lifelong Learning Closer to Home

Dublin Learning City’s Learning Neighbourhoods programme is about one simple idea: everyone should be able to find learning, training and educational opportunities right on their own doorstep. Since the programme began, we’ve worked with local communities across the city to map out what’s already there, connect residents to it, and build networks that make lifelong learning part of everyday neighbourhood life.

So far, two areas of Dublin have been officially recognised as UNESCO Learning Neighbourhoods — with a third now underway.

Dublin awarded prestigious UNESCO Learning City Award 2021

Investing in human capital is crucial to Dublin’s successful development, and lifelong learning is key to this endeavour. As a learning city, it pursues the principle of ‘learning for work, life and fun’ through wide-ranging initiatives coordinated by six local colleges and institutes together with further partners. The ‘Your Place is Here’ campaign encouraging enrolment in higher education regardless of educational background, age, or individual circumstances, and the Healthy Dublin City project offering six learning programmes to improve citizens’ personal, physical and mental health are just two of the many initiatives available to Dublin’s population of more than 1.2 million.
