How Game Communities Will Help Shape Education
Games are immersive. Gamers will happily spend endless hours learning how to
play a game, and play it well. They are motivated to improving their skills,
achieving their objectives, and sharing the results with their friends, whether in the
real world or in a virtual one.
During the pandemic, games quickly became a way to connect to people. While
defeating monsters and saving the world together, gamers created thriving social
communities in these virtual worlds that offered social interaction, positive
reinforcement, and safe spaces. The concept of the Metaverse has taken off in
recent years in the wake of rapid technological advances coupled with the rise in
social gaming environments.
These communities expand beyond the virtual into the real world as well; gamers
watch each other play multiplayer games on live streams with the enthusiasm of
die-hard football fans. They bond and support each other. These virtual
environments can provide a vast array of learning and knowledge-building
