Come and learn about all the online resources you can access for free using your Dublin City Libraries card! We’ll help you set up BorrowBox on your phone or tablet so that you can access audiobooks and ebooks for free wherever you are.
Depending on your interests and needs, we’ll introduce you to some of our other digital resources too. Love classical music? Discover the Medici TV app. Learning English or a second language? Discover our selection of language apps. Love reading the news? We’ll show you how to access magazines and newspapers for free. Want to learn how to play an instrument? Find out how to access ArtistWorks’ online music lessons.
Our digital resources provide plenty of opportunities for people to learn new knowledge, explore new hobbies and upgrade their study skills for free! These 20-minute demonstrations will be done on a one-to-one basis!

Join AkiDwA in celebrating Dublin with the My City of Dreams Learning Launch! This project is funded by the Dublin City Council to explore people’s lived experiences of Dublin. AkiDwA will present research findings from community focus groups, art therapy, surveys, and a children’s writing competition.

Assistive Technology for general use and at 2nd and 3rd level with some focus on AT for ADHD

A guide to commonly available assistive technology(AT) used in 3rd level. This AT is also useful at 2nd level and in daily life. There will also be a focus on AT that is useful to the neurodiverse and those with ADHD. A lot of the technology I’ll be demonstrating, like spelling and grammar checkers and voice recognition, is useful whether one has a learning difficulty or not.

Building Strong Foundations: A Phonics Workshop for Adult Literacy Tutors

Join our combined Visual Thinking Strategies tour and art-making workshop for Dublin Learning City Festival 2023. Artist Ashleigh Downey will guide participants on a tour of selected artworks and facilitate discussion using the Visual Thinking Strategies method – a method that encourages participants to think speculatively and to respond to an image from their point of view, offering evidence for their ideas grounded in their observations. Following this discussion, participants will join Ashleigh in an art activity that further explores the materials and concepts of the artworks discussed on the tour. For adults, no experience necessary.

Director Rebecca Cremona (BFA, MFA, MQR) is a multi-award winning filmmaker. Her first feature ‘Simshar’ was Malta’s debut Oscar submission and a box office hit.
She has adapted Julian Maio’s novel ‘City of The Sun’, and ‘The Crossing’ for Samson Films and Boudica Entertainment. She is currently developing a slate of films supported by Creative Europe.

Brian Friel’s drama comprises a towering influence in Irish culture, but why is this so? This lecture examines the art of Friel’s drama over the period of his life, and evaluates the political and cultural impact of his enduring art.
