At noon on 25 of April, fellow Pixel gardener, Maireád Cuffe, will lead a workshop on ‘Gardening and Small Spaces’
Whether you’re living in an apartment and have a window box, or a house with a small yard, you can love your tiny space no matter your age, ability, or available time.
Mairead’s workshop will offer insights on turning small spaces into biodiversity boosters, to provide essential habitats for wildlife, no matter how small, with a focus on maximising every inch of your garden. Come and find out what you can do in your space, ask questions, share ideas, and see what has been achieved at Kingfisher hub.

Since it was founded in 2022 the Kingfisher Project has set about repurposing and transforming public lands at Blarney Park Allotments, on the banks of the River Poddle at Kimmage, into a community knowledge, awareness and educational resource. The purpose of this work has been to address the Community’s relationship with the natural world and to build community capacity and resilience to cope with the consequences of human induced climate change and biodiversity loss.
The Kingfisher Project, therefore, acts as a catalyst for attitudinal, behavioural and consumption pattern change, which centres on enriching individual households and the urban environment through knowledge, awareness and interaction with nature and the community action which this inspires.
