Reconnecting through Sustainability and Well-Being
Celebrates the turning of the season and the future of our planet.
Join us at Greenacre on April 22nd for a full day dedicated to the intersection of sustainability and well-being. This year, we are uniquely reconnecting with our Celtic heritage by linking Earth Day with the spirit of Beltane.
Through a collaborative effort between various UCD societies and staff units, we are hosting a festive day designed to nourish both the environment and the individual. These events are happening all around campus. Make sure to check the venue for each event below.
What to Expect:
Sustainability Workshops: Hands-on activities focused on eco-friendly living. Well-being Sessions: Mindful practices to help you ground and recharge.
Food: Community food sharing celebrates our connection to people and the land.

Sustainability and Biodiversity Photo Competition 2026

Celebrate the beauty and importance of our natural world by taking part in the Sustainability and Biodiversity Photo Competition 2026. This event is taking place at the Veterinary Sciences Foyer / Room 101.
Taiwanese Tea

This Earth Day, we’re bringing a slice of Taiwanese culture to Greenacre. Immerse yourself in nature, and taste two distinct brews of traditional Taiwanese tea. This event is taking place at Greenacre.
Tai Chi

Try Tai Chi or mindful movement to connect with yourself and nature. This event is taking place at Greenacre.
Musical Performance

Both current and retired staff of the UCD Community Choir will drop by Greenacre to enchant us with a medley of songs, focusing on earth and nature.
Breathwork and Standing Yoga

A 20-30 minute practice breathwork and standing yoga session at Greenacre.
A New Kind of Teaching Space
–
Our friends from the UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy are planning an event will take the form of through an in-situ walk and talk and will offer the chance to explore and partake in the design of a new kind of teaching space. Meet up place at the Garden, School of Architecture.
Shared Reading
–
Shared reading of exploring nature through literature. This event will take place at Greenacre.
Nature Journalling
–
Try nature journalling, led by Rachel Ní Dhúgáin of UCD Global. This event will take place at Greenacre.
Tea and Cakes
–
Enjoy tea, cales, and light gardening with the Greenacre Community Gardening team. This event will take place at Greenacre.
Live Demo at the Hobbit House
–
A live demonstration of vibration in structures, using a model train crossing a bridge. Mobile phones capture and visualise real-time vibrations, showing how everyday devices can also be used as simple scientific tools to observe movement through materials. Happening in the Hobbit House at Greenacre
Taiko Drumming, Food, and More

Drop by Greenacre to listen to Taiko drumming, food, and more. Brought to us by our friends from Japanese Society
Inner Development Guide and Improv Workshop

Join an inner development and improv workshop, hosted by Green & Blueprints and Diego Borrego from Innovation Academy. This will be held at Greenacre too.

Ogham Writing
–
Do you want to try Ogham Writing? Ogham is an Early Medieval alphabet used primarily to write Primitive Irish and later Old Irish, with roughly 400 surviving inscriptions on stone monuments found mainly in southern Ireland, especially Cork and Kerry. Michael Kerr from the Sustainability Committee of the College of Social Sciences and Law will bring his expertise and teach the basics at Greenacre.
